Doc Hendley, a US bartender, have figured out a way to help the poor. He founded a charity organization that provides clean water to people in developing countries through funds raised at wine tasting events. Proceeds from these events are used to build clean water wells and sanitation systems in developing countries such as Sudan, Ethiopia, Uganda and Cambodia.
I think his idea is brilliant. After the first sips of wine, what do we usually do? We shoot the breeze, talk about work, politics and world poverty.
Why not put those words into action? One gets to enjoy great wines, engage in real conversations, and help the others.
You can read more about Hendley here on the CNN web site.
Here is a link to the "Wine to Water" web site. They even have free, downloadable kits for you to host your own Wine to Water event at home.
The least we can do, right now, is to conserve water at home -- such as not letting water run while shaving or brushing our teeth.
And here are 25, 49, and 100 more ways to conserve water at home.
